                                How To Reach Cortona

Distances from main airports to Cortona by road:

Florence 130 kilometers
Rome 228 kilometers
Pisa 217 kilometers
Bologna 215 kilometers
How to reach Cortona by TRAIN:

Cortona's closest railway station is CAMUCIA-CORTONA (3 km from Cortona centre). You can also use TERONTOLA-CORTONA.
For on-line timetables and bookings use the Ferrovie Italiane web site.
Please note that in the CAMUCIA-CORTONA station one can only buy kilometer tickets from a machine.
Cortona is well served with regular trains that take you directly to Arezzo, Florence, Bologna and Milan in one direction, or Orvieto, Rome and Naples in the other. National and regional express trains stop frequently at Camucia and Terontola railway stations. Perugia can be reached by train from Terontola station quite quickly, via a branch line, and Siena via another branch line from Arezzo station.
CAMUCIA-CORTONA and TERONTOLA-CORTONA railway stations are connected by hourly buses to the Piazza Mercato, just outside Cortona's walls. For the schedule see Camucia-Cortona lines LFS20, LFS6, LFSU1, LFSU4 and LFSU5, Terontola-Cortona line LFSU4.
Please note that, on Sunday 28, there is only one line operating, the
LFSU4 line, and there are only two buses, leaving Terontola-Cortona station at 17:37 and 19:00 and Camucia-Cortona station at 17:48 and 19:11. After that you need to take a taxi (see below).
Bus tickets can be bought at all tobacconists, newspaper kiosks, and most coffee bars, but not on the buses themselves. So remember to buy your tickets in advance and always punch the ticket after getting onto the bus (there's an automatic time puncher on every bus).
Taxis can be hired from the railway stations of Camucia and Terontola, or in the centre of Cortona in Piazza della Repubblica.

How to reserve a Taxi: if you communicate to us date, time and train station of arrival we will be happy to reserve a taxi for you. Otherwise, if you want to do it by yourself, you can call directly the driver. Here is a list with cell. phone numbers.

How to reach Cortona by CAR:

Coming from the north or south on the A1 highway, exit at Valdichiana-Bettolle. Then continue on the Perugia-Bettolle link road (S75bis) in the direction of Perugia. Exit the link road at the intersection with the road number SR71 and follow the sings for Cortona.
