| The talk will first present some classical results on the structure of automorphism groups of complex projective curves (or compact Riemann surfaces). We will then discuss the automorphisms of complex projective manifolds in higher dimensions, on which much less is known. For example, the connected components of the automorphism group form a discrete group, and it is an open question whether this group is finitely generated. |
