| I will explain how Eisenbud's and Harris' notion of limit linear series was refined by work of Osserman’s, the connection of these series with the Abel maps introduced by Caporaso and myself, and will browse through recent work by Nigro, Rizzo and myself that leads to a further refinement of that notion. |
